Cycling’s social, economic, environmental, and health benefits make it a critical requirement for Norfolk’s transportation network. Norfolk Bike Commuter (NFKBC) started from the simple joy of practical cycling and grew into a movement to transform Norfolk into America’s greatest cycling city.

While the bicycle has moved people and cargo for well-over 100 years, the greatest barrier to its widespread adoption is a lack of safe, well-connected infrastructure. NFKBC envisions Norfolk bicycle infrastructure comparable and at times superior to automobile-centric design.

Through social engagement, policy development, and collaboration with local decision-makers, NFKBC leads the effort to improve Norfolk through bicycle use and infrastructure.
